I’m finally getting around to posting my first boudoir session that I participated in with my fabulous roommates while at the DWF Convention in Nashville! For those who are new to this, boudoir photography is a style of portraiture where women (and men) pose in artfully sexy, fun and beautiful poses that are aimed to peak the interest of their significant others. Since I actually participated in this (and yes, there are photos of me out there, and no…I won’t link them!), I can attest that it’s totally new and different to me…but I honestly think it’s the most fun EVER! It was so fun to pose and equally fun to photograph, and I have to say, I’m really excited about integrating this style of photography into my business.
Below are some images that I loved from the shoot! We started out taking our photos in our hotel room, which is where most boudoir sessions occur (obviously, somewhere private!). But then (because we’re photographers and we crave cool locations), we managed to make our way into an elevator and then into a stairwell. Yippee! I was very pleased with the images below, but please let me know what you think (even if you aren’t as into them as I are!). Many thanks to my awesome roommates! I miss you gals!

Thanks for looking everyone!
Lisa
P.S. Just if you’re curious: 1) I styled the beehive in my roommate’s hair in these photos! and 2) The third shot from the bottom was taken in the elevator, with me looking up into the mirror on the ceiling of the elevator. Pretty cool, no?!
Well, as you may or may not know, Lisa Boggs Photography was chosen to receive a Bride’s Choice Award 2010 from the WeddingWire Network! Yippee! Below is part of the snippet I received via email which is super exciting!

I just want to say thanks to all of the brides/grooms who submitted reviews on my behalf! I have absolutely zero say in what is voted upon and written about me, and it’s truly humbling to know I had such an effect on peoples lives. If you’d like to see my page on WeddingWire, then please go here.
Thanks!

This week I attended the Digital Wedding Forum Convention for the first time ever, and was really happy to get to know some people and listen to some uber talented photographers speak! One of the speakers (Kevin Kubota) had a great segment about branding your company, and I thought his exercise in finding keywords specific to your company was really fascinating. So, I thought I’d try it out!
Most of these keywords are from a list he had, but I added some more that I thought might apply. So, the question is: If you had to pick three words out of the list, which would you choose to describe my photographic style? Can you find them in this list? Would they be other words not in the list? Fire away! Here are your choices:

joy
bright
humorous
passionate
fun
breathtaking
insightful
sexy
stylistic
different
love
sincere
crisp
delightful
romantic
peaceful
realistic
dreamy
fantasy
nostalgic
clean
innovative
detailed
complex
fashionable
classic
heart-stopping
contemporary
natural
impressionistic
fresh
friendly
sophisticated
edgy
retrospective
beautiful
honest
Don’t be shy! I would absolutely love to know your thoughts! If you need to review more of my work, go to http://www.lisaboggsphotography.com.

Just thought I’d drop a line and say Happy Holidays to anyone everyone out there who reads this and/or supports me and my growing business! From Lisa (owner/head photographer/awesome gal), to Mike (husband of said owner/assistant photographer/super handsome dude), to Penny (most modeled dog of 2009/best pet ever) and Margot (not pictured cat/2nd best pet ever)…we wish you a wonderful holiday season! Thanks so much, and here’s to a busy 2010!

On December 13, 2009, I mentioned to my friend Mariah how we should take her “trash-the dress” portraits outside once it snowed again in the area. We’d been talking about it for a while, and to me, it fit her personality and her dress so well. We concluded it would be a fabulous idea, and obviously knew we would have to play it by ear the next time it looked like snow. Little did I know that we would end up with the Blizzard of ‘09 exactly one week later, and that Mariah would still want to attempt portraits in the 20 inches of snow! What can I say, she’s a pretty awesome gal, and she was totally committed to the photo session, even though 1) this wasn’t your average snowfall, 2) it was a little hazardous to drive and 3) it was ridiculously cold. She, along with her entourage of Gabe (her husband) and Chris (her good friend), headed out with Mike and I on the hunt for the perfect location. In Mariah and Gabe’s trusty all-wheel-drive Subaru, we made it down to Difficult Run, a park in Great Falls just off of Georgetown Pike. Luckily, this kind of park is not gated, so we just parked it up and marched around for a bit! Mariah did an amazing job considering the obstacles involved, and I was floored at how she never once looked cold in her portraits. She just looked happy, glowing and excited to be outside! The manly assistance did a great job as well…clearing the path for Mariah and I, holding my gear, putting Mariah’s coat on her between shots. It was such a fun time, and I hope you can tell in the photos below! Many thanks to everyone involved for a job well done!
Enjoy!

This past weekend I photographed Kimberly and Dan at Riverbend Park in Great Falls, VA, a lovely little park on the calm side of the Potomac. I go there all the time, as it’s a great place to hike, bring the dog, and even go on the beaches and wade in the water. So much fun! Kimberly and Dan saw a series I did with a friend here, and really wanted to create some images similar to those. I was certainly up for the challenge, even though we had fewer leaves on the trees! However, the day turned out really lovely! It was in the 70’s that day, and splashing around in some water wasn’t entirely crazy, even though it’s November! Below are some images from the occasion. It’s hard for me to pick out favorites, but I really do love the weeping cherry photo (number two) and the last photo with the geese flying in the background! Thank you to Kimberly and Dan for super fun time…and a big shout out to Dan (effing-a!). Enjoy!

It’s finally here! The blog post about Aisha and James’ destination wedding to Riviera Maya, Mexico! Mike and I flew down the day before the wedding to photograph this special event, and it was quite a whirl wind! The original ceremony was supposed to be beach side, but due to the frequent downpours spawning from Tropical Depression/Tropical Storm/Hurricane Ida, Aisha and James had to institute the backup plan! One would think that would be a huge bummer, but honestly, it did not stop the party! The ceremony moved to a gorgeous marble gazebo that was half inside/half outside, but looked amazing (and yes, people watched from behind the gazebo, and yes…I had to edit them out!). You can see the rain dripping a bit from the second photograph, but everything still looked bright and happy! Afterward we lost all the light, but walked around to take some shots in the hotel. The colors of the hotel went really well with the wedding colors, and even though we stayed indoors, I still think you get that nice tropical feel! Enjoy the photos below and comment if you like! Thanks Aisha, James, and all of the family and friends who made this event a hit, even with the rain!

A major aspect I loved about Jeamy and Luke’s wedding was that all the details, specifically the color choices in all those details, were so pulled together. I personally am a huge fan of neutral, earth-tone colors, and when I can I like to add a hint of color to offset those neutrals (i.e. my website). Jeamy & Luke’s style totally reflected my taste in colors, and they carried it throughout everything. From one of the first images I shot, you can see there’s a nice, clean blue color used to accent the flowers. Then you see that blue accented in the wedding programs they made, but then also begin to see hints of golds and oranges in those as well. Move on to the table decor and you see nice white linens and light brown napkins combined with those punches of oranges/golds/blues. Then, in the last few photographs, you can see how Jeamy incorporated the orange/neutral brown in her shoes, and carried the orange in her bouquet and Luke’s tie (not to mention neutral tones for the gals dresses and the guys ties)! Match those up with the natural greens from the flowers and then the scenery outdoors and it just makes my artistic heart go pitter-patter! Jeamy and Luke, you did a fantastic job, my friends! Enjoy the photos below!

On Halloween weekend I photographed Jeamy & Luke’s wedding out in Nokesville, VA at Bristow Manor Golf Club! I’ve been to this location before, so was excited to return, especially since it’s somewhat out in the less-built-up part of Northern Virginia. We were dodging rain most of the day, but all in all, it was a great time! And who can complain about the rain when you get images like the ones below, particularly the first one? Where there is rain, there are clouds…and in this case, really amazing ones at sunset! I hope you enjoy the two below! Thanks to Jeamy, Luke, and their incredible friends and family for a wonderful day!

It’s been a little over a year since I’ve seen this delightful family! Raegan has grown so much and is as cute as ever! The last time I saw her she was a mere three months old, which is crazy! So when Mindy wanted to get together to do some family portraits, I was super excited to get to hang out with them all again! The fam was nice enough to pack it up and come see me in Great Falls, and we went to a nearby playground where Raegan had a blast! I’m not sure what was more fun to Raegan: the swing, the merry-go-round, or her dad throwing her up in the air. By a smile rating, it’s a tough call, but I’m going to go with “dad throwing her up in the air.” Ha ha! Weigh in below with what you think! Thanks to Aaron, Mindy and Raegan for a wonderful time! Enjoy!
