Casey and Brad's Tower Club Wedding Photo Booth!

I had the pleasure of recently photographing Casey and Brad's Tower Club wedding, and before I post the full wedding, I have to post their photo booth shots!  Casey and Brad had such an amazing group between their family and friends.  Every single person at that wedding got in the photo booth which was awesome!  I love how playful everyone was and how they utilized all of the props on their prop table.  It was incredibly hard to narrow down which ones to blog, as I like all of them, but here you go!  Stay tuned for the full gallery of photo booth photos, followed by their full wedding post!  Enjoy! Oh...and yes...I was in a few of the photos.  *grin*

Gotta promote where ya can!

Katie and Tom's Georgetown and Silver Spring Wedding Photo Booth!

Hurray for photo booths!  I recently photographed the adorable Katie and Tom, and was delighted that when they booked me, they added a photo booth!  I can't say enough good things about adding this feature to your package.  Where else can you get your aunt and uncle to wear some crazy garb and get in front of the camera?  Sure, I'll probably photograph them candidly on the dance floor...but wouldn't you rather have a photograph of them with crazy huge sunglasses on their faces, along with some awesome mustaches on a stick?  Of course you would!  And with Katie and Tom's wedding their family and friends did not disappoint!   Scroll below to see some hilarious photographs, and if you're part of this awesome group, you can head over to see some of them on Facebook (and even use one as a profile photo!) or you can head over to the main gallery page, see the full gallery, and purchase one if you like!  Enjoy! Ingrid and Pat’s Marine and Navy Wedding – Photo Booth!

I recently had delight of being able to photograph Ingrid and Pat's wedding at Fort Myer and The Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel!  I met this incredibly couple over a year ago: Ingrid is a nurse and Lieutenant in the United States Navy and Pat is a Landing Force Communications Officer in the United States Marine Corps.  Ingrid was deployed in Afghanistan for most of 2010, but I was overjoyed when she returned in the late Fall of 2010 so we could connect again! Before I can share the actual wedding photos, I have to publish these photo booth they are just incredible.  Ingrid added the photo booth to her wedding package a few weeks before the wedding, and it was a fantastic way to get her friends and family in front of the camera without it necessarily being awkward.  Think about it: you hate getting your photo taken, but if you're wearing giant silver sunglasses and a mustache on a stick, you're like a completely different person!  Ha ha ha!  Needless to say, her family and friends did an amazing job in front of the camera and I hope you enjoy the photos below.  My favorites?  Probably the last sequence of Pat getting a kiss.  So hilarious!

I'll give you one guess as to what this guy was dancing to in this next photo:

Lisa Boggs Wins Accolade of Excellence in the 2010 WPPI 1st Half International Photography Competition

I'm not a person who typically enters competitions. In fact, I haven't entered a real competition since college, when I was competing with my peers in fine art. But, this year I thought I'd take a stab entering 2010 WPPI 1st Half International Photography Competition. I was pleased to find out recently that I received an Accolade of Excellence in the competition for a portrait I had taken! I entitled it "Laura B." and it's from the shoot I did of my cousin-in-law for her band, The Mynabirds. Here's the release from WPPI about the win: Lisa Boggs Wins Accolade of Excellence  in the 2010 WPPI 1st Half International Photography Competition

Lisa Boggs of Great Falls, VA, has received special honors in the WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHERS INTERNATIONAL 2010 WPPI 1st Half International Photography Competition.  Designed to recognize outstanding photographers, the judging was held in Culver City, CA on September, 2010.

"Laura B." received an Accolade of Excellence in the Individual category.

Boggs competed against an international field of photographers to win such honors.

The WPPI 1st Half International Photography Competition awards are presented each year at the largest trade show, educational platform and convention in the United States for professional photographers.  The 2010 competition included 2511 images in 17 different categories submitted by photographers from all over the world.

Aaaaaaaand here's the photo!

You can also view the blog post I did on Laura's photo shoot here and if you would like to explore her ridiculously awesome music (she's been on tour with David Bazan!), please go here.

Hurray! Thanks for reading!

Kim and Dan's Thomas Birkby House Wedding - Leesburg, Virginia!

If you haven't already figured it out, I love Kim and Dan! After I shot their engagements, we became very good friends, and it is always so much fun to shoot a friend’s wedding.  You'll see that their wedding did not disappoint in terms of details, moments, and color! To borrow from Steel Magnolias, Kim's colors were purple and purple (not pink and pink!). Lavender was everywhere, and it was gorgeous. One nice surprise was that lavender was actually growing at the Birkby house in the spot we took the first look and some wedding party photos. It matched perfectly! I mentioned this in their previous blog posts here and here, but their wedding was at the historic Thomas Birkby House in Leesburg, VA. The setting is stunning and has great-looking photo opportunities everywhere you turn. Dan and I talked about how I would describe their wedding, and he came up with "Contemporary Country," and I think that totally fits! The setting was refined and sophisticated, but had great classical and even rural elements, like the wooden backdrop of the first-looks. There were also some fun and unique elements like the photo booth and Kim’s inspired choice of pie instead of cake!

I have to give a big thank you to Kim and Dan for allowing me to be their photographer on their special day. I had a great time as a friend and a photographer, and that makes it twice as special! Also, many thanks to Mary Louise of the Birkby House for her incredible patience, Courtney of A Sweet Soiree for her steadfast planning and help, Dave from Blue Sky Films for working so well with me, and Kate Rogers for her beautiful harp playing (as usual). Kim and Dan also used Celebrations Catering for their delicious meal and Mom's Apple Pie of Leesburg, VA for their wedding pie (not cake!). These vendors were incredible, so if you're on the hunt, certainly give them a call!

Kim and Dan's Photo Booth - Thomas Birkby House, Leesburg, Virginia!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Kim and Dan's wedding, two very good friends of mine! We met almost a year ago, just before I took their engagement photos in Riverbend Park, and I have been eagerly awaiting their wedding ever since! Well, I knew early on that Kim and Dan wanted a photo booth at their wedding, and I was very excited to incorporate that on their big day! Mike was nice enough to head up the photo booth for me while I ran around taking the wedding photos at the lovely Thomas Birkby House. I think the results were fantastic, as Kim and Dan's guests were more than happy to indulge in some fun photos with props! Below are a few photos from the event, but if you'd like to see the whole gallery on Facebook, you're more than welcome to here, or if you were a guest of the wedding and wish to see them without the watermark, you may go here and request your gallery password. Enjoy!
